The items that matter
Ask a qualified air-conditioning contractor to assess servicing requirements, including filters, coils, drainage and system performance.
Timing
Service in March or April, before ambient temperatures put the system under sustained load. A unit that runs fine in mild weather can still fail on the first 45-degree day.
Signs to act on now
Weak airflow, water pooling near the indoor unit, unusual noise on start-up, or a system that runs continuously without reaching setpoint all warrant a visit before summer.
